Astrata Europe launches DataLinc: bringing Astrata’s open telematics platform strategy into action by connecting mobility related data sources and providing a base of decision support services for transport companies, logistics, shippers and OEMs. This strategy promotes connectivity between these ecosystems while adding value to each customer’s core business by integrating different data sources in a single platform and creating the services needed by each player.
Several challenges in the fleet management market make it hard to pursue information and technology-based productivity: saturation in hardware and software solutions, the extensive fragmentation of these solutions, and resulting customer disorientation due to this complexity. Our open telematics platform strategy reduces the complexity of monitoring different data sources on multiple interfaces by gathering data and transforming it into meaningful information, and delivering it in a single platform.
In line with this strategy, Astrata Europe introduces DataLinc, the open telematics service that connects data gathered from 3rd party devices and sensors in and around the vehicles. A wide range of functionalities is seamlessly integrated into a single platform, providing access and information crucial for transport companies, logistics and supply chain operations as well as OEMs. Such data include trailer location, temperature, trailer door opening status, driver hours, tyre pressure indication, and much more.
More than 100 integrations are already in place, including ThermoKing, Carrier, Schmitz Cargobull, Kasasi/Krone, Kasasi/IDEM, Fela, Trailermatics (Novacom), T-Comm, TrackUnit, Mercedes, Renault, Iveco, Volvo und DAF. Harati to lead global Sales & Marketing; van den Berg to lead global Engineering & Technology.
Astrata Group has continued its strong growth trajectory, including expanding its customer base among MNC and globally managed accounts. In the past year, the number of global and cross-regional accounts, which Astrata manages with its best-in-class central platforms, has increased three-fold. Consistent with its global growth strategy, in the past year Astrata has also expanded into Latin America, with an initial focus on supporting its growing customer base in Brazil.
As a result of its strategy and growth, Astrata Group is pleased to announce the following organizational changes:
Marius van den Berg, will be assuming the position of SVP, Engineering and Technology (incorporating his existing Group CTO function). In this role, he will have ultimate responsibility for, and senior management of, Engineering, Technology and Product company-wide. Marius will execute his role in close coordination with each Business Unit MD, to ensure effective management and execution.
Abdallah Harati will be assuming the position of SVP, Sales and Marketing (incorporating his existing Head of Sales of Astrata Europe function). In this role, he will have ultimate responsibility for, and senior management of, Sales and Marketing company-wide. Abdallah will execute his role in close coordination with each Business Unit MD, to ensure effective management and execution, and with a particular emphasis on top-notch global and multi-regional account management.
As mentioned, Astrata has been expanding its reach into Latin America, with an initial focus on Brazil. To support these efforts, Astrata has recently opened an office in Sao Paulo and formed Astrata do Brasil (Astrata Brazil), which is being led by Luiz de Sá, based in São Paulo. He is a highly regarded technology and telecommunications executive, with extensive experience in sales, commercial and technical operations and executive management.
On January 24th, the Fleet World’s Great British Fleet Awards took place in London and Astrata’s fleet software solution TripMonitor was shortlisted for the Innovation in Customer Service Award in the category Innovation in Customer Service. We didn’t lift the trophy, but we are extremely proud of our ‘highly commended’ accolade, which highlights TripMonitor as a first-class system that is unique and delivers positive results for our customers.

We are delighted to announce that TripMonitor has been nominated in Fleet World’s Great British Fleet Awards, in the category Innovation in Customer Service. The Great British Fleet Awards celebrate the best of corporate mobility in the UK.
Astrata’s solution is designed for operations where timing of delivery and route control are crucial to success. TripMonitor pro-actively alerts fleet managers at a very early stage, if a risk of delay is identified, ensuring they can take immediate action to solve the issue at hand and communicate necessary arrangements with customers. Through management-by-exception, only those trips that are not aligned with the planning, are focused on. This greatly improves customer satisfaction levels.
